Unbound mobile app
Unbound Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes the Unbound mobile application. Unbound is designed to work without accounts, subscriptions, advertising, analytics, or tracking.
Information Unbound collects
Unbound does not automatically collect or transmit personal information to Unbound-operated servers. Unbound currently has no backend or cloud service for receiving app usage information.
Information stored on your device
Unbound stores limited information locally on your device needed for the app to function, including:
- onboarding preferences
- acknowledgment preferences
- restriction or lock state
- authorization state
- widget state
- Apple-provided app-selection tokens
- Android allowed-app selections, stored as application package identifiers
- Android LOCK IN and Accessibility interruption state
These data are used to provide app functionality.
On Android, Unbound uses the device's installed-app information to display apps available for selection. The app identifiers you select are saved locally for restriction functionality. Unbound does not save a complete installed-app inventory as part of this selection process.
App selection information
App-selection identities and tokens used by Apple's Family Controls system remain within the native iOS implementation. They are not sent to an Unbound server. Flutter receives only limited state, such as authorization status and app counts, rather than the underlying app-selection tokens.
Screen Time and Apple frameworks
Unbound uses Apple technologies including:
- Screen Time
- Family Controls
- ManagedSettings
- WidgetKit
These system frameworks provide the restriction functionality used by Unbound.
Android Accessibility Access
On Android, Unbound uses Android's Accessibility service to identify which app is being opened by reading its app identifier (package name) from window-state change events while the service is enabled.
When LOCK IN is active, Unbound compares that identifier with the allowed-app list stored on your device. If the app is not allowed and is not an essential system app or service, Unbound returns you to the Home screen.
Unbound's Accessibility service is configured not to retrieve screen content. It does not read typed text, passwords, messages, or other screen content through Accessibility.
Unbound does not maintain or save a history of the apps you open. To prevent repeated blocking actions, it temporarily retains the identifier of the most recently blocked app in memory. This information is not written to persistent storage.
Accessibility event information is processed on your device. Unbound's Accessibility service does not send these events to Unbound-operated servers or third parties.
Your selected allowed apps and Unbound settings are saved in local app storage. Depending on your Android device's backup settings, this stored information may also be included in Android's system backups or device transfers.
You can disable Unbound's Accessibility access at any time through Android Settings.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
Unbound does not currently use:
- analytics SDKs
- advertising SDKs
- tracking technologies
- crash-reporting services that transmit user information
- third-party behavioral analytics
This website
According to its documented practices, the Unbound mobile application does not include analytics or advertising SDKs. The Unbound web pages you are reading are separate from the app and are part of the TylerYates.me portfolio.
Like the rest of the portfolio, these pages load fonts and styling resources from third-party providers when they open, before any analytics choice is made. The portfolio also offers optional Google Analytics, which loads only after a visitor gives consent.
Review the website's privacy practices and analytics choices in the website privacy notice.
Accounts and payments
Unbound does not require a user account. Unbound does not currently offer subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Support email
If you choose to contact support@tyleryates.me, we may receive:
- your email address
- the contents of your message
- any information you voluntarily include
This information is used to respond to the support request. The Unbound app itself does not automatically send this information.
Children
Unbound does not knowingly collect personal data through the app because the app does not operate a system for collecting user information.
Changes to this policy
This page may be updated if Unbound's features or privacy practices change. The “Last updated” date above will reflect any revisions.
